About IFBA

Initiative for a Better Africa (IFBA) is a U.S.-based nonprofit organization committed to supporting high-performing students and students with demonstrated financial need in Liberia through scholarships, mentorship, and structured educational workshops.

Our mission is to help students succeed academically, develop leadership and life skills, and build long-term opportunities for themselves and their communities. IFBA places a strong emphasis on accountability, consistency, and student development.

Position Overview

IFBA is seeking a Scholarship & Program Support Officer to support the execution of our scholarship programming and outreach activities. This is a hands-on, execution-focused role, not a senior management position. The ideal candidate is motivated, reliable, comfortable with technology, and eager to grow with an organization that is building long-term impact on the ground in Liberia. We are especially interested in candidates who are early- to mid-career professionals with some relevant experience, strong communication skills, and a genuine passion for student development.

Program Structure: Paid Probation / Test Phase

To ensure the right long-term fit, IFBA uses a paid probationary period before confirming a full-time appointment.

  • Initial Phase: Paid probation / competitive internship-style period

  • Duration: Approximately 3 months

  • Purpose: Evaluate communication, reliability, initiative, and cultural fit

  • Outcome:

    • Successful candidates will receive a full-time offer with increased compensation

    • Candidates who are not a fit will not be continued

This structure allows both IFBA and the candidate to assess fit before making a long-term commitment.
